Short Fiction

IMMUNE tackles a single mother fighting Multiple Sclerosis, a rare immune disease that affects the neurological system’s nerve integrity. Malek , Rania’s only son was her immune system when she was threatened to lose her own.

Carrying the burden of managing her children’s psychiatric institution and the fear of losing her, Malek had no alternative other than leaving. The film highlights the idea that immunity can come from a person who provides protection and security. Portraying the ebbs and flows of  both her rare immune disease and the fact that she deeply wants to nurture a child that turns out to be an eminent man from her own perspective.

The short film sheds light on a critical disease (MS) that has to be properly addressed in order to raise awareness. As well as the importance of children’s mental health and how they are throughly impacted by their caregivers.
